Stranger Things: a classical tale with Theseus, the Minotaur, David, Goliath, Perseus and Medusa, etc., etc., etc. What a mirror to reflect back to us what we choose to see. It is the flipside of the same entertainment coin that holds our daily news coverage on the other side.
Released in the midst of a moment when people are in a heightened state of worry in our country about which perceived monster to vote for as their leader, which terror to annihilate, which *stranger* thing to make into a Thing.
We pretend we place all the power into the hands of just one person rather than remember how much power we have together.
I am in The Upside Down when I choose to place the monster out there outside of me, always projected onto something or someone else. Or, I can choose to look within for my own monster slaying quest. Or, I can melt the coin down altogether and usher in my own world that is neither Upside Down nor Downside Up.
